    Executive Team

    Sue Stengel, Inspector General

    Sue Stengel was appointed Inspector General on December 1, 2022. Ms. Stengel is an attorney and the first woman to serve in this role, bringing more than 12 years of experience leading oversight efforts to enhance the accountability, transparency, and integrity of large, complex, high-profile organizations.

    Ms. Stengel previously served in the Offices of the Inspector General for the Los Angeles Police Department, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and, most recently, as the Independent Assessor (Inspector General) for the Los Angeles City Fire Department. Before that she served as a Policy Director for two Los Angeles Mayors, and Public Safety Deputy for a Los Angeles City Councilmember. Ms. Stengel also worked at a national civil rights organization and began her career as a Deputy Public Defender for Los Angeles County.

    Sal Randazzo, Deputy Inspector General, Investigations

    Sal Randazzo was appointed Deputy Inspector General over Investigations in May 2019.  Previously, Mr. Randazzo had a 28-year career at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), most of which was spent here in the Los Angeles area.  He held several roles within the FBI, including Supervisor of the Los Angeles Field Offices’ Civil Rights squad and the Assistant Special Agent in Charge over White-Collar Crime programs. He is a Certified Inspector General and a Certified Fraud Examiner.

    Mark Pearson, Assistant Inspector General, Audits

    Mark Pearson was appointed Assistant Inspector General over Audits in July 2024 after having served as an Audit Manager. Mr. Pearson is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with decades of experience in both financial audits and criminal investigations.

    Prior to joining the LAUSD-OIG team, Mr. Pearson had a 24-year career with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Criminal Investigations Division.  During that time, Mr. Pearson worked on complex and high-profile investigations of International Organized Crime, Tax Evasion, Drug Trafficking, and Hate Crimes.  Mr. Pearson would go on to become the Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Los Angeles Field Office and Special Agent in Charge of the Oakland Field Office.

    Amy Long, Assistant Inspector General, Special Services

    Amy Long was appointed Assistant Inspector General over Special Services in July 2024 after having served as a Forensic and Support Services Manager. Ms. Long began her public service journey with LAUSD’s Charter Schools Division conducting fiscal oversight of independent charter schools. Ms. Long is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and Certified Inspector General Investigator (CIGI). 
     
    Ms. Long started her career with Ernst & Young’s Fraud Investigation and Dispute Services Group and worked on various financial investigation, corporate compliance, and litigation support engagements. She also worked for The Walt Disney Company on the Corporate Management Audit – Special Reviews Team investigating potential financial irregularities and unethical conduct issues across all business segments. Ms. Long was also part of the Internal Audit Department at First American Financial as a Manager of Forensic Services.
