    Modern Authentication Issue

    A recent update to the email system may have caused some employees to experience problems accessing their e-mail, calendars, and contacts using an application called Apple Mail.  

    If you’re using Apple Mail on an iOS or a macOS device, then you may have received a login error such as “Cannot verify user name or password” or “Cannot connect to the account ‘Exchange’” or any other related e-mail synching issue may be encountered.

    This issue can be resolved by:

    1. Making certain iOS and macOS are up-to date
    2. Deleting your existing LAUSD Exchange e-mail account in Apple Mail and setting it up again

     

    You can always obtain immediate access to your email using your web browser. To do so, login to your Office 365 account via the Internet at http://office.com or http://mailbox.lausd.net from any computer or mobile device.

    IT Security Announcement for Modern Authentication

    On February 1st 2019, LAUSD will increase security to help protect your email account by implementing Modern Authentication. As a result, some email programs will no longer be supported. In order to find out how these changes will affect you, please view this important announcement:

    IT Security Announcement for New Password Rules

    On November 2nd 2018, the District is implementing changes to the Single Sign-On (SSO) system that will:

    1. Make it easier for users to remember their passwords.
    2. Reduce the need to seek assistance to access District accounts.
    3. Improve the District's resiliency to information security breaches.

     

     All employees and non-employees (excluding students) will now be required to create stronger passwords. Passwords must receive a strength rating of at least “Fair” before being accepted. Users are encouraged to use the password strength meter at https://mylogin.lausd.net to test passwords for compliance with District policy.

     The following table lists the colors associated with various strength levels.

     A passphrase is recommended when selecting a strong password. Passphrases can be created by picking a phrase and replacing some of the characters with other characters and capitalizations. For example, the phrase “Are you talking to me?!” can become “RUTALk1ng2me!!”.

    Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 Not Supported on macOS High Sierra

    Microsoft announced that the company is no longer to support Office 2011 on macOS High Sierra and users should switch to Office 2016
