Student Work Permits
ISSUANCE OF STUDENT WORK PERMITS
(DURING COVID-19 CRISIS)
Before visiting the Work Experience Education Office for a Work Permit,
please view our calendar below for office dates/hours
LAUSD students seeking General Work Permits during the Summer should contact their school of attendance first to determine if their school will be issuing permits. If work permits may not be obtained from the school site, the Work Experience Education Office will be open to assist students.
General Work Permits may NOT be issued electronically due to the sensitive nature of Personal Identifiable Information (PII). To obtain a General Work Permit, a student MUST present the following:
- Statement of Intent to Employ a Minor and Request for a Work Permit - Certificate of Age B1-1 form (original signatures from the student, parent, and employer). Students should NOT email this form to and from the employer. You are jeopardizing your personal information being exposed to hackers.
- Photo ID (Government ID, Valid Passport, or Photo School ID: must include the date of birth)
- The minor (student) MUST be present to sign the work permit before it may be issued.
- Work Permit Authorization Letter from the student's home school on School Letterhead. The authorization form should be emailed to the school's Work Permit Issuer or Counselor (Authorization Letter is NOT required for summer employment)
Work Permits may also be obtained by LAUSD students at one of the Youth Source Centers across LAUSD through June 30, 2021. Please contact the PSA Counselor via email or office number found by clicking the YSC Work Permit Schedule for an appointment.
Entertainment Work Permit Application EWP must be signed and stamped by the minor's Home School. The document may be emailed to the minor's home school administrator or designee for verification of Satisfactory Grades and Attendance. The LAUSD WEE Office CANNOT sign on the school's behalf.
It is the parent/guardian's responsibility to contact the Entertainment Work Permit office to obtain the legal work permit. Additional information for obtaining an Entertainment Work Permit may be found by visiting the EWP Website: Entertainment Work Permits
