Implementing the new ad hoc reporting tool will improve the experience of generating reports using data found in MiSiS. Some of the major benefits include:

  • Flexibility – Provides more flexibility in ad hoc reporting at LAUSD, now allowing users to create reports at the local district and LAUSD levels if they have access to that data.
  • Self-Service Approach – Eliminates the need to request new reports to be created by IT – users can create and personalize their own reports.
  • Dashboards – Provides dashboards for various types of users (administrators, central office staff, school officials, etc.) consisting of the information those users need to have to succeed.
  • Historical Data – After integrating with MyData, will provide the ability to produce reports on historical student data, so users can look at information on a student’s previous enrollment and course history.
  • Up-to-Date Data – Data will be updated nightly; some data, such as select attendance and scheduling data, will be available in real-time.

    Release Notes

    Report Updates

Initial ELPAC Eligibility Report – The report has been enhanced with the LAUSD First Enrollment Date column and it is only displaying the data for the current school year.  To access the report, click on Instruction > Student Testing > Initial ELPAC Eligibility and Audit Dashboard > Initial ELPAC Eligibility Report.

    New Dashboards

Home Connectivity Monitoring Dashboard - The dashboard has been created to help improve students distance and hybrid learning by monitoring internet access and quality of service.   It will assist schools, management and other personnel to ensure every student in the District has long-term, stable internet access.

The dashboard has three unique filters (District IP, Speed Category, and Speed). The tiles display speed bands counts. The reports can be displayed in Graph or Table View, both views have drillable links to access school or student detail reports.  In one report, the Internet speed data can be summarized by Districts, Community of Schools or Grade Level; in the other report, the data can be summarized by specific students’ subgroups (Ethnicity, Homeless, Especial Ed, etc.).  Access the dashboard by clicking on Operations > Connectivity Monitoring > Home Connectivity Monitoring Dashboard.

    Dashboard Updates

Extended Programs Summary Dashboard - The Primary Promise program has been added to the Extended Program Category filter dropdown and to the detailed report’s columns.  Access the reports by clicking on Summary > Monitoring Reports > Extended Programs Summary Dashboard > Extended Program Summary or Extended Program Detailed Report.

Attendance Bands Dashboard – The performance tiles and the Dimensional Graph/Table View reports values are matching and displaying correct total numbers and percentages.  Access the tiles and reports by clicking on Operations > Attendance > Attendance Bands.

    Bug Fixes

Some school locations with Cal State Preschool Programs (CSPP) have reported that they are not seeing their regular school locations(s) or they are seeing the data for their regular location(s) and their CSPP combined.  The solution is to check/uncheck the locations from the Campus filter and/or School filter as needed.

    Subject Areas

The enrollment location hierarchy for reporting has been updated in all subject areas.  The hierarchy order is now as follows:  Local District > Community of Schools (CoS) > Campus > School.    Confirm the update by clicking on Summary > Monitoring Reports > Class Size or Instruction > Graduation Progress > Graduation Progress Detailed View > Local District View.

    About Focus Reporting & Dashboards

Available now, Focus Reporting & Dashboards (Focus) is a web-based reporting application that strengthens LAUSD’s reporting capability by integrating major systems used in the District. Focus consists of subject-specific dashboards, canned reports, and an ad hoc reporting capability. In addition to MiSiS, Focus consists of data from other systems used by LAUSD employees, like Welligent, Cafeteria Management System (CMS), and Adult Ed.
