Diane is an experienced leader with a proven track record in resolving complex problems in public education. She is well known for leading the recovery effort of the My Integrated Student Information (MiSiS) Project
, one of the largest educational technology projects ever undertaken. She is credited with taking a severely-challenged project and transforming it into a successful tool to support the growth and improvement of every student.
Building on the success of MiSiS, Diane’s role is expanding to apply effective models of best practice in project management to all large-scale initiatives moving forward in L.A. Unified. She is responsible for governing the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategic plan for the use of technology to promote student learning. To this end, she is leading collaboration among educational leaders, labor partners, parents, community-based organizations, and others.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Pappas served as a key leader on the management team of the District’s Office of the General Counsel for over 10 years. In this capacity, she was charged with restructuring and managing various legal teams, overseeing multi-million dollar budgets and recruiting new attorneys and legal professionals to assist in managing complex litigation.
A long-time champion for children’s rights, she is passionate about the education and safety of all children and has thus far dedicated herself to providing legal expertise and leadership to advance the District's goals to provide a high quality education to every student in a safe and nurturing environment. Diane is also a prolific writer and has published numerous children's books.
