Message from the Chief of Special Education, Equity and Access

Dear LAUSD Special Education Families and Community,

This month, marks one year ago that the global pandemic disrupted the daily instruction for all of our students. Although we have made progress with Distance Learning, we recognize that our school buildings is where our students need to be to have the most enriching educational experience. The primary goal has always been to reopen school facilities for in-person services in the safest possible manner. We are now at a point where Covid-19 cases are declining and the reopening of school facilities is now becoming a reality. Our administrators, teachers, and practitioners are preparing to return to in-person services. Last week you should have received an email about the Return to Campus Program Selection Form. If you have not received the email for program selection, you may access it here: Return to campus program selection. Many of you have reached out with questions. For this reason we are providing a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) link for our families of students with disabilities. These FAQs will be updated on an on-going basis to ensure we are providing the most up to date information. Should you have any additional questions you may contact us at our School and Family Support Services Call Center at 213-241-6701 from the hours of 8:00a.m.-4:00 p.m. and we will gladly provide assistance. We have dedicated staff readily available to support.

Respectfully,
Anthony Aguilar
