Los Angeles Unified Reports Attendance as Strike Continues (01-16-19)

Today, 132,411 students attended Los Angeles Unified’s 1,240 elementary, middle and high schools, according to attendance reports submitted to Los Angeles Unified. This represents a 22% decrease from yesterday’s attendance. Today’s attendance number is incomplete because 12 schools had yet to submit reports through Los Angeles Unified’s internal attendance system.

The adjusted number of students who attended school yesterday is 171,480. This number may still be subject to adjustment based on additional reporting.

Total gross revenue lost for the three days of the strike is $69.1 million based on attendance numbers reported.

No contract negotiations have taken place since UTLA rejected Los Angeles Unified’s last offer on January 10, 2019 and walked away from the table. Los Angeles Unified would like to resume negotiations as soon as UTLA is willing.
