School Board President García and Superintendent Beutner In Sacramento for Meetings with State Leaders
Today, Los Angeles Unified Board President Mónica García and Superintendent Austin Beutner held a series of meetings with California state leaders to advocate for additional resources to better serve the students of Los Angeles Unified.
“We are working hard to avert a strike,” Superintendent Beutner said. “We are building support at the state level to find more resources to help our students and better support all who work in our schools.”
The meetings underscored the financial challenges facing Los Angeles Unified and the need for leaders in Sacramento to increase funding for public education. Los Angeles Unified gets 90 percent of its funding from the state of California.
“We remain committed to providing every student in Los Angeles Unified with a great public education,” said Board President García. “Today is a first step in working with state leaders to achieve this goal.”
