“Our L.A. Unified community is built on immigrant families and we reject the President’s anti-immigrant rhetoric, which is causing more division in our country in advance of the midterm elections.

The President cannot unilaterally rewrite the Constitution. Citizenship by birth is a constitutional right under the 14th Amendment. We urge the President to spend more time focusing on creating equitable outcomes for students and families for the future of our nation.

Despite the current political climate, we highly encourage families to take advantage of the programs and services L.A. Unified and the City offers immigrant families and their children. Be sure to make your voices heard at the polls on November 6.

We stand in solidarity with immigrant students, families, teachers and staff.”
