Los Angeles Unified and Labor Partners Reach a Two-Year Tentative Agreement to Extend Health Benefits
Los Angeles, CA (June 22, 2022) – Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho announced today that Los Angeles Unified has reached a two-year tentative agreement with its labor partners to continue to provide exceptional health and welfare benefits to more than 95,000 employees and retirees who work in, or have dedicated their careers to, our school communities.
“As I shared during the recent Los Angeles Unified budget presentations, it is my intention to provide our employees with high-quality health care,” Superintendent Carvalho said. “I look forward to continuing to collaborate with labor partners to reach fair and equitable agreements in the best interest of our students and families.”
“We are delighted to have reached an agreement and are pleased with Superintendent Carvalho’s commitment to continue to provide healthcare for employees and retirees,” Teamsters Local 572 Business Representative and Health Benefits Committee Negotiations Chairperson Adriana Salazar Avila said.
The agreement is subject to ratification by labor partners and adoption by the Board of Education.
