The way employees and non-employees access their District-issued Office 365 email account will be changing. Beginning February 19, 2019 unsecure email protocols such as POP and IMAP will no longer be allowed. In addition, email applications and web mail providers that use an obsolete and less secure method to prove your identity, called “Basic Authentication”, will no longer be allowed beginning February 26, 2019 (originally planned for begin February 1, 2019).

These changes have been implemented primarily due to Microsoft's recent announcement to terminate support for “Basic Authentication”. The following unsupported email applications or webmail providers currently use this method which, makes your email account password more susceptible to unauthorized access.

This means that you will no longer be able to use any of the unsupported email applications or webmail providers listed in the table below to access your District email. Affected users are advised to upgrade to any of the supported email applications or use a modern internet browser to access your Office 365 email by visiting http://mailbox.lausd.net from any computer.
