The LA Unified Partnership with LA Metro Fareless System Initiative is a new pilot program for all TK-12 students, focused on helping students ride transit without the worry of paying fare. Los Angeles Unified is partnering with LA Metro to offer students unlimited rides until June 30, 2023 on buses and trains run by LA Metro and other participating transit systems, at no cost to families.
HOW IT WORKS:
Expect to hear more about this exciting program soon.
Each community of schools will be receiving tap cards from Metro and distributing to students starting later this month.
If a student is brand new to Los Angeles Unified, how do they get a tap card?
Each community of schools will have tap cards available for students who enroll at Los Angeles Unified after the initial tap card distribution. New students can ask their school for instructions on how to get a tap card.
Who can students contact to replace a lost/stolen card?
Each community of schools will have tap cards available for students who need a replacement for a lost, stolen, or damaged card. The student will register the new card and the previous card will be deactivated. Students can ask their school for instructions on how to get a replacement tap card.
