How is Local District Northwest Working to Help Achieve these Global Goals?

The Local District Northwest Global Humanitarian Challenge

Recognizing that Local District Northwest strives to develop graduates who are prepared to compete globally with 21st century skills by experiencing engaging and relevant instruction in safe, educational learning environments, we have developed our Local District Northwest Global Humanitarian Challenge.

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals provide the perfect global context for our Local District Northwest schools to solve real world problems of global significance.  For this reason, these global goals will be used to inform our Local District Northwest Global Humanitarian Challenge.

It is our goal, as Local District Northwest, to empower our students through each project within the challenge to become active citizens in addressing these global issues in our local community.

Our local solutions have the potential to impact our globe!

     Project Underway!

Students address the global issue of environmental sustainability on a local level by designing a xeriscape that will promote and foster increased green spaces at Local District Northwest school sites while also supporting the sustainable management of our ever scarce water resource.
  • Health and Wellness

    Project Launched
    October 14, 2015

The health and wellness of our children, and their success in school, are intimately linked.  Schools within Local District Northwest will address the global issue of health and wellness on a local level as they analyze school site health and wellness programs, participation data, and student fitness performance data to inform decision making and resources to create and implement plans to optimize health, wellness  and success in each school community.
