Local District Northwest Celebrates Administrative Professionals' Day

On behalf of the entire Northwest team, I send my deepest thanks and appreciation to our administrative professionals.

A great institution starts with a solid foundation and support, and that is exactly what our colleagues bring every day to their jobs.

Take time today, April 27, to celebrate and applaud the work and dedication of our colleagues as we continue to move forward on our journey of success.

Welcome to Local District Northwest 2015-2016
  • Welcome to Local District Northwest

My name is Vivian Ekchian, and I am honored to serve the community of Local District Northwest as your new Superintendent.  I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, and to provide some helpful information as we all prepare for the new school year.  I’m excited to work together with you, “Building academic excellence through coherence, collaboration, high expectations, and accountability.”
At Los Angeles Unified School District, Local District Northwest, our focus is on working together as a diverse team to support student learning and achievement in order to produce outstanding, globally competent, biliterate graduates who are ready for college and career.  It is our job to leverage the strengths of all stakeholders in order to create the conditions and environments for this to happen.
To that end, my vision for Local District Northwest is:
Recognizing the diversity of learners whom we serve and the need to graduate students who possess the literacy, critical thinking, and technological skills necessary to be competitive in a 21st century global market, Local District Northwest has created a system-wide PreK-12 instructional plan to enable all students to meet A-G requirements and graduate college and career ready.
In realizing our vision, we’re guided by our Core Beliefs:
    1. Students come first.
    2. Families and communities are our partners.
    3. Diversity is our strength.
    4. Success is in the classroom.
    5. Quality teaching, leadership, and accountability are the keys to our success.
These Core Beliefs are the heart of who we are as a Local District, and will serve as our compass as we navigate our way together towards success as one Local District Northwest.
Our Core Beliefs will ensure that we reach our goals as a Local District.  With our Core Belief that our Students come first and are at the center of everything we do, we have set a goal that 100 percent of students in Local District Northwest will graduate prepared for college and career, and be provided with opportunities to be fully bilingual and biliterate.
We will ensure that as a Local District the initiatives in place will support this goal.  As I continue to reach out to all of our family and community partners, I am excited to add additional goals to our plan, and look forward to engaging you in our work together.
As a responsive organization, the Local District Northwest team is excited to begin this work with you.  This site will be your “one stop shop” for factual, accurate, and timely information.  I will continue to build it with you, in response to your needs, as we work together to ensure the success of all of our students.
Again welcome, to Local District Northwest.
    Vivian Ekchian
    Local District Northwest Superintendent
