Please visit this page,  https://achieve.lausd.net/page/9556 , for updated information about the My Math Digital Access for teachers and students. At this time, teachers will need to download PIN numbers for students in order for students to have access at home. LAUSD's Division of Instruction recently released the District Assessment Bank, which houses the District Interim Assessments for Grades K-5. The District Assessment Bank tasks are one option that schools can use for the Interim Assessments. As a reminder, the window closes on October 23rd. The District Assessment Bank can be found at https://achieve.lausd.net/Page/6138. Data from these tasks are to remain at the school site.

Another option, the SBAC Interim Assessments are housed on the CAASPP website. The SBAC Interim Assessments will not be available Oct. 1-14th. Students will be able to take them beginning Oct. 15th.

    Interim Assessments

The Math Interim Assessments are scheduled to be given in a month from this week. LD South highly recommends the use of the SBAC Interim Assessments for Grades 3-6. The SBAC Interim Assessments Blueprints can be found at https://achieve.lausd.net/Page/9004, our LD South Elementary Math Interim Assssment Site. Please note, while these blueprints do give you information about the clusters/targets assessed on the Interim Assessments, it is not a comprehensive blueprint that indicates all that will be assessed on the summative SBAC assessment. The Math Summative Assessment blueprints are found at https://achieve.lausd.net/Page/9005, our LD South Elementary Math Summative Assssment Site.

Interim Assessments for Grades K-2 should be posted shortly. They will be organized by cluster and standard; grade levels should collaborate when choosing the task(s) for their assessment.

Williams Compliance: The Williams List of District Adopted and Approved Textbooks was released. It indicates that only My Math (TK-5th) and CA Math (6th) will suffice for Williams Compliance. Envision can no longer be used for Williams Sufficiency unless there is a dire emergency and large amounts of new math materials were not delivered. Please email lisa.saldivar@lausd.net or call Lisa Saldivar at (310) 354-3492 if you believe your school is in this situation.

Also in Elementary Math this week:
    • Surplus Texts
    • ALEKS Reminder for ALL Schools
    • My Math Access Codes

Surplus Texts: If your school has surplus My Math or CA Math student texts (Vol. 1. or Vol. 2) in any grade level, please email or call Lisa Saldivar at lisa.saldivar@lausd.net or (310) 354-3492. We do have schools that have seen recent growth and need student texts to comply with Williams. Every one helps!

ALEKS Reminder: As part of the My Math adoption, each school will receive a certain number of licenses for the online ALEKS intervention program for 3rd-6th students. Each school team needs to create an administrator at each school who will be responsible for managing subscriptions and creating additional teacher accounts. Once the ALEKS team gets the names and emails of the administrators from each school, they will create an account for each administrator.  When the administrator accounts are created, each administrator will be e-mailed a welcome letter that contains their login information.  Please send the first and last name and the email address of the chosen administrator to lisa.saldivar@lausd.net with the subject ALEKS.

    My Math Access Codes:
LAUSD ITD and McGraw-Hill are still working on the personal teacher and student access codes to the online curriculum and resources and should be released shortly. Until then, the demo codes can still be used to gain access.

My Math: Blending Learning Training: This past week, many of our administrators attended the My Math training given by the Division of Instruction. If administrators or teachers were not able to attend these trainings, you can still access the blended learning training found on My PLN. Directions for registering can be found here: Registration for Blending Learning Online Training

My Math Demo Codes: As of now, we are still using the demo codes to access the My Math and CA Math online resources. Schools can access teacher and student editions of the textbooks as well as reteach, enrichment, and online manipulatives resources using these codes. Personal teacher and student codes are coming soon and will be disbursed as soon as they are released.

Frequently Asked Questions: LAUSD’s Division of Instruction has released a Frequently Asked Questions Sheet that provides many answers to questions schools have, including textbook and curriculum map questions and concerns. Please see here for the FAQ sheet: Frequently Asked Questions

3rd- 5th/6th Grade ALEKS Math Intervention: As part of the My Math adoption, each school will receive a certain number of licenses for the online ALEKS intervention program for 3rd-6th students.

The welcome letter also contains helpful information on getting started and includes links to our training center and contact information for our Support department. Please send the first and last name and the email address of the chosen administrator to lisa.saldivar@lausd.net with the subject ALEKS.

If an administrator decides they are not able to use the ALEKS subscriptions, they can be moved to a different school or they can be placed at the desired local district level, or they can be placed at the LAUSD super-district level. Please email Lisa Saldivar at lisa.saldivar@lausd.net if your school would not like to use the subscriptions.
