It began in 1997 as a one-day event. Over time, this event has become part of a movement for year-round safe routes to school and a celebration – with record breaking participation – each October.

Vintage Magnet honored as National Blue Ribbon School

Two L.A. Unified schools – Vintage Magnet in North Hills and Harbor Teacher Preparation Academy in Wilmington – were named today as National Blue Ribbon Schools in recognition of their progress in closing the achievement gap. The award from the U.S. Department of Education affirms the hard work of educators, students, families and school communities in creating a safe teaching and learning environment in which students can reach their potential. The honorees will receive their awards in November at a ceremony in Washington, D.C.

The “Ice Cream with a Cop” event was held at Holmes MS on Friday, September 22nd. In partnership with LA School Police and Board Member Schmerelson.

The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is implemented its Ninth Annual Student Recovery Day(SRD) on Thursday, September 14, 2017. The goal is to locate and recover students that have not graduated from high school and have dropped out and offer resources and support to re-engage these students in school. Kennedy Senior high School was the lead location in Local District Northwest for this year’s efforts. Great work Northwest team and community!
