Los Angeles Unified monitors and advocates through the annual appropriations cycle for increased funding of Titles I-IV formula programs; federal grant programs such as GEAR UP and the Magnet Schools Assistance (MSA) grant; and 21st Century program funds for after-school programs. In addition, the school district actively advocates for full funding of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA); passage of the Rebuild America’s Schools Act; repeal of the Government Pension Offset/Windfall Elimination Provision; a permanent solution for undocumented youth and TPS beneficiaries; ending of immigration policies that impact learning and family stability; support of common sense gun reform legislation; and increased funding to state and local education agencies under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act.
