National School Lunch Program (NSLP)
In 1946, Congress recognized the need for a permanent program that would provide schools with funding for student lunches. Legislation was implemented as the āNational School Lunch Actā.

School Breakfast Program
The School Breakfast Program is a federally assisted meal program operating in public and nonprofit private schools. It began as a pilot project in 1966 and was made permanent in 1975.

Summer Food Services Program
The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) was created to ensure that children in lower-income areas could continue to receive nutritious meals during long school vacations.

Meal PricingLAUSD Food Services is committed to providing nutritious Meals at a reasonable price. Students are encouraged to apply for free and reduced meal eligibility at the beginning of each year. Although not all students will qualify for free or reduced meals, Café LA is one of the best values around. Where else can you get a freshly made, complete balanced meal for $3.50 or less?
