    Advocacy

    Support Music Grassroots Advocacy Guide: The SupportMusic Grassroots Advocacy Guide is a free community resource developed and supported by NAMM, the International Music Products Association. It is a helpful tool in building a music program at your school.

     

    Grants

    The ASCAP Foundation: The ASCAP Foundation is dedicated to supporting American music creators and encouraging their development through music education and talent development programs. The ASCAP Foundation considers proposals from other 501(c)(3) organizations engaging in music education and talent development programs that are consistent with the mission and objectives of The ASCAP Foundation and which support music education programs for aspiring songwriters and composers. Our average grant is approximately $2,500.

    Children’s Music Workshop: This website contains links to many grant sources.

    DonorsChoose.org: This website is a wonderful tool for teachers and community members alike.  Teachers can create projects consisting of items they need in the classroom.  Community members can donate towards those items and support the music programs across the Los Angeles Unified School District.

    Fender Music Foundation: The Fender Music Foundation collects playable instruments and equipment, which are lightly used, blemished or otherwise imperfect, from manufacturers and retailers. We then inspect them and ensure their playability. Primarily these items are traditional musical instruments and the equipment necessary to play them.

    Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation: The Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation keeps music alive in our schools and communities by donating musical instruments to under-funded music programs, giving youngsters the many benefits of music education, helping them to be better students and inspiring creativity and expression through playing music.

    The Mockingbird Foundation, Inc.: The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 (incorporated March 1997) to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.  So far, The Mockingbird Foundation has distributed over $700,000 to support music education for children – 199 grants in 43 states, with more on the way.

    VH1 Save the Music Foundation: The VH1 Save The Music Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring instrumental music education in America's public schools, and raising awareness about the importance of music as part of each child's complete education.
