    Physical education teachers share their knowledge and enthusiasm for physical education with a diverse student population. They teach and support all students including English language learners, standard English learners, special education students, and gifted & talented students. The curriculum addresses movement skills, movement knowledge, social skills, health enhancing level of physical fitness, and about how history, culture and physical activity blend together.

    April 7, 2018 & April 21, 2018

    The Division of Instruction is will be hosting two days of professional development for middle school physical education teachers. Each middle school in the district is encouraged to send one representative from their physical education department.

    This two-day training will be held on April 7, 2018 and April 21, 2018. Participants will receive training rate compensation. To receive payment, full attendance at both days is required. Participants will receive the middle school version of the Coordinated Approach to Child Health (C.A.T.C.H.) curriculum as well as training from a CATCH trainer.

    Participants will also receive training on standards-based instructional design so that they can learn how best to implement the CATCH curriculum into a standards based physical education program. Participants are expected to share this training and curriculum resources with the rest of their department.
