The budget recommendation by LAUSD Superintendent John E. Deasy and his administration represents the fiscal prudence and beliefs in the just investments necessary to support the youth of LAUSD, which includes aligning with the new Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) and the funding provided by the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF).
With a set of new investments and the maintenance of many current investments, this proposed budget serves as a series of investments in justice. The justice we are committed to providing the amazing and needy youth of the Los Angeles Unified District. A justice-based budget is in complete alignment with the new Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) and the funding provided by the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF). The historic opportunity before us now in California is to propose, adopt, and implement a set of equity-based investments and hold ourselves accountable for the outcomes we set and promise to our youth and families. In doing so, we honor the employees who work daily, all year, to make the promises possible.
This proposed budget is being presented in three documents:
* Public Information Deck - We will use this at our public meetings to capture and summarize the new laws, processes, and budget form(s) as we move towards adoption in June 2014.
