What to do before your Mac OS X Server Arrives

LAUSD Schools looking install a Xserve, MacPro or Mac Mini Server should look to do the following prior to starting your server for the first time.Get a static IP address for your server. This is usually managed by someone your campus who assigns IP addresses to your printers.Once you have an IP you will then need to create a self service request by visiting: https://itdscweb.lausd.net/sc/ess.do. Once logged in choose "Submit a new request"

Mac OS X Server Setup Recommendations

Are you getting ready to deploy Mac OS X Server in your school? Follow the information below to ensure your server is setup correctly the first time. Each Apple Xserve (Intel Xeon Based) will need two static IP addresses. One will be used for TCP/IP based services (file, web, chat, etc) and the second will be for Lights Out Management (LOM) services. If you are installing Mac OS X Server on a supported computer other than Apple Xserve only one static IP address will be needed.
