Intensive Diagnostic Education Centers (IDEC)
The ability to read continues to be the primary pathway to learning. Students who struggle with basic literacy skills face lifelong challenges. IDEC classes were established throughout the District by the Division of Special Education to implement innovative evidence-based approaches to reading, writing, and mathematics for students with disabilities.
Students placed in IDEC are taught individually and in small groups. They learn how to read and comprehend what they read. IDEC students also develop improved writing skills and improved mathematics skills through direct instruction.
