Health Plans or Community-Based Organizations who want to work at LAUSD School sites conducting health insurance outreach and enrollment must complete the following documents and submit to the CHAMP Coordinator. Community-based organizations (CBOs) may contact the CHAMP Coordinator at 213-241-4293. In order to become an outreach and enrollment partner. CBOs and/or health plans must enter into a memorandum of understanding, provide proof of liability insurance, adhere to professional standards of conduct, work within assigned schools and comply with additional program requirements in order to become an outreach and enrollment partner.


    Healthy Start Program Healthy Start Programs are located at seventy-two (72) lead school sites throughout the District and provide support to as many as 428 of the District's schools. Services provided vary by school, and may include referrals for basic needs services, health and mental health, and academic support. Student and Family Resources Navigators also provide ongoing case management services and are trained to assist families to enroll in Medi-Cal, Healthy Families, and the Kaiser Permanente Child Health Plan. In 2010-11, the first year Healthy Start staff performed health insurance enrollment, staff assisted just over 970 students in obtaining Medi-Cal or Healthy Families. In 2011-12, the Healthy Start team assisted more than 1,360 students. This growth represents a jump of over 40% in just one year.
