• Magnet Programs


    Magnet programs offer self-contained classes and place emphasis on developing higher-level thinking skills in a demanding academic program for students who are entering grades 1–12. Interested parents may submit an original application or apply online at http://eChoices.lausd.net by the mid-November deadline.     WHEN APPLYING TO ONE OF THE GIFTED/HIGH ABILITY OR HIGHLY GIFTED MAGNET PROGRAMS LISTED ABOVE, APPLICANTS MUST:

    1. Be verified as eligible to apply by the current school of attendance or
    2. Be identified as Gifted by an LAUSD GATE psychologist in the Intellectual, High Achievement, Specific Academic Ability, Creative Ability, or Leadership Ability Categories. For Highly Gifted Magnets, applicants must be identified by an LAUSD GATE Psychologist as Highly Gifted (HG) or Highly Gifted Applicable (HGA).
    3. Have Gifted identification results on file prior to the magnet application deadline.
    4. Reside within the LAUSD boundaries at the time of application and while participating in the magnet program.

    Los programas Magnet ofrecen clases independientes y hacen incapié al desarrollo de las habilidades del pensamiento a un alto nivel por medio de un programa académico exigente para los estudiantes que están entrando a los grados del 1-12. Los padres interesados pueden presentar una solicitud original o aplicar por línea en http://eChoices.lausd.net antes de la fecha límite de a mediados de noviembre. Para obtener información sobre el proceso de aplicación, verificación, y selección de los estudiantes, llame a la Oficina de Servicios de Integración Estudantil al (213) 241-4177.
     

    AL APLICAR A UN PROGRAMA MAGNET PARA ESTUDIANTES DOTADOS/DE ALTA CAPACIDAD O ALTAMENTE DOTADOS MENCIONADOS ARRIBA, LOS SOLICITANTES DEBEN: 

      1. Ser verificados como elegibles para aplicar por la escuela actual o
      2. Ser identificados por los Servicios Psicológicos del Distrito Escolar Unificado de Los Ángeles como dotados en la categoría de Intelectual, Aprovechamiento Superior, Capacidad Académica Específica, Destreza en el área de Creatividad, o Destreza en el área de Liderazgo. Para los magnets para altamente dotados, los solicitantes deben ser identificados como altamente dotados o aplicables (HG o HGA) por un psicólogo del LAUSD.
      3. Tener los resultados de identificación de ser dotados en el archivo del estudiante antes de la fecha límite de solicitud.
      4. Vivir dentro de los límites de LAUSD en el momento de aplicar y durante su participación en el programa.
