Donation Access

Pupil Services has partnerships with various donor agencies that distribute and donate items for LAUSD students and their families. These items can be utilized as incentives for students or to provide families in need with resources that will fulfill the Pupil Services mission: “To ensure that all LAUSD students are enrolled, attending, engaged and on-track to graduate.”

There are various ways in which counselors can access donations and specific guidelines to access and distribute those items. PSA Counselors can request donation items directly from the Pupil Services Unit or from the community agency.

SUPPORTS

Baby2Baby

Pupil Services and Baby2Baby(B2B) began their partnership in 2008. During our partnership, B2B has provided thousands of diapers and wipes to Los Angeles Unified families. B2B has worked with Student Health and Human Services (SHHS) staff in providing items such as car seats, strollers and pack n’ plays to ensure the safety of children. Through this partnership, SHHS staff have been able to service the needs of our students and their families.

In addition to providing our students with basic needs, B2B also coordinates opportunities for our LAUSD elementary students to engage in play dates. These memorable events include activities such as a cupcake making, magic shows and snow play. Students leave play dates with gift bags filled with clothes, shoes and toys.

Led by Co-Presidents Kelly Sawyer Patricof and Norah Weinstein, Baby2Baby is a mega diaper bank and nonprofit organization providing essential items to children in need across the country. In the last 9 years, Baby2Baby has distributed over 100 million items to children in homeless shelters, domestic violence programs, foster care, hospitals and underserved schools as well as children who have lost everything in the wake of disaster.

Program Services

Baby2Baby provides children (ages 0-12) living in poverty with diapers, clothing and all the necessities that every child deserves.
Student Health and Human Service staff work in collaboration with Baby2Baby to provide:

Basic necessities to students (ages 0-12) and their families
Much needed clothing, hygiene and school supplies to students experiencing homelessness, students in the foster care system, and students who have experienced a disaster
Safety items such as car seats, booster seats and pack n’ plays to families with infants and toddlers to ensure safety

Access is limited to SHHS Staff on the approved list. Parents, students, interns or other staff cannot request items directly. Please contact your administrator or lead counselor to verify access. Only approved counselors may request items. Baby2Baby staff should not be contacted directly. See below for your department Baby2Baby contact.

Resources

Donations are restricted to LAUSD parents, students or younger siblings and should be used by our families in great need, not as incentives.

LAUSD Grad Van
LAUSD Grad Van Services
LAUSD utilizes the Grad Van as part of outreach efforts to engage students, parents and the community. The Grad Van provides a unique means of support and information to families across the District that face logistical barriers in accessing school and community resources.

The Grad Van is an eco-friendly vehicle donated by the Southern California Air Quality Management District. It serves as a mobile information center to assist parents and students.

The Grad Van is staffed by Pupil Services counselors who provide information on:
- Enrollment and registration support
- Graduation information, credits earned A-G requirements
- Educational Options
- Importance of Attendance
- Identifying resources needed for student success
The goals of the Grad Van are to:

Promote & inform parents about LAUSD and Pupil Services

Highlight the importance & significance of attendance to academic achievement

Promote and explain superintendent’s performance meter

Provide information on post secondary options

The Grad Van is available for school events anywhere in the District, including health fairs, resource fairs, parent meetings, or activities aimed at community outreach. If you are interested in having the Grad Van at an event, please complete the Request Form and fax to Pupil Services. For more information on the types of services the Grad Van offers.
