STANDING WITH BLACK STUDENTS, STAFF AND FAMILIES
LAUSD joins educators across the country in inviting critical conversations about racial bias, social justice and black identities.
Good teaching includes helping students process their thoughts and feelings about the world and creating space for them to bring their full selves to school. This document, Courageous Conversations with Students, provides tools, lesson plans, and practical advice for facilitating dialogues with students about power, privilege, oppression, and resistance. They were adapted by the Office of Human Relations, Diversity & Equity. Click here to view this resource.

Psychological First Aid (PFA's)
Psychological First Aid (PFA) is an evidence-informed approach for assisting children, adolescents, adults, and families in the immediate aftermath of a critical incident, disaster, or terrorism. PFA is designed to reduce the initial distress caused by traumatic events and to foster short and long-term adaptive functioning. PFA can be used by anyone. Many educators and school staff administer PFA regularly without even realizing it. Please review the newely developed PFA's aimed at supporting our Black community. Please check out LAUSD School Mental Health for more information.
