    Financing Your Postsecondary Plans



    In addition to grants, scholarships are another source of free money. Most scholarships are merit-based and they can be from the federal, state and local government, your college or university, community businesses or nonprofit organizations.   There are multiple websites to search for scholarship opportunities, and multiple means of eligibility.

    Students should keep track of deadlines, as they vary by provider.

    Students must never enter a contest or apply for a scholarship online if they are required to submit money or private information, like a Social Security number: this may signal a scam.
