Desiree Palacios
Instructional Technology Facilitator
213-241-5532
Desiree feels honored to serve our communities as an ITF. She was inspired to pursue teaching while working as a Teacher’s Assistant at James A. Garfield High School as she was attending Rio Hondo Junior College. Working with students was so rewarding, but most importantly she wanted to be part of their support system ensuring our students 1. had opportunities beyond high school, 2. knew and understood what those opportunities were, and 3. had the skills to thrive at those opportunities. For these reasons, as an educator Desiree has often chosen to work with our at-risk population and our English Learner population, focusing on strategies and skills that help them access content. The same principles and values led her to out-of-classroom positions that include: Middle School College and Career Readiness Coach, English Learner Designee, AVID and AVID Excel Coordinator, and International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme Coordinator. As an ITF, Desiree is afforded the opportunity to help teachers and students with these strategies and skills while integrating technology to create meaningful learning experiences and she could not be more excited.
