Digital Citizenship

It is required that digital citizenship lessons are taught prior to any student accessing District devices. Digital citizenship is about more than online safety. It’s about creating thoughtful, empathetic digital citizens who can wrestle with the important ethical questions at the intersection of technology and humanity. Teachers are required to teach 5 digital citizenship lessons and continue integrating digital citizenship into their classroom management plan throughout the year.

ITI provides policy, professional learning, and school-site supports to ensure coherent digital citizenship efforts District-wide. Programs are grounded in research and founded on curriculum and practices developed by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and Common Sense Education (CSE). Please visit the ITI website for more information at achieve.lausd.net/digcit.
