The A-G evaluation focuses on the District’s initiatives in secondary instruction relative to the A-G graduation requirements. The project coordinates and integrates the efforts of three other projects within Research and Evaluation: program evaluations in secondary mathematics, secondary literacy, and secondary science, with the core of initial efforts being on mathematics and English/language arts (ELA). The primary focus of this project is on the implementation of the professional development model being promoted in secondary instruction, particularly in math and ELA. This research is based on data collection through observation of PD-related activities at the local district level and school sites. It is supported by classroom observations, interviews, focus groups, and surveys with program staff, PD facilitators, and teachers. In addition to examining PD, the project investigates other contextual issues relevant to long-term success of the A-G initiative.
