Welcome to Los Angeles Unified's Summer School 2022 Website. Registration for this year's summer programs is now underway. Los Angeles Unified provides all current ETK – 12th grade students with in-person and online summer learning opportunities that combine academic instruction with engaging virtual enrichment activities this summer. We hope you will join us!

On May 31, 2022 L.A. Unified hosted the Summer School 2022 Webinar for district parents and families.
Over 3,000 participants joined us to learn about all of the summer program offerings for students.

CALIFORNIA STATE PRESCHOOL PROGRAM
We are excited to offer summer school to our California State Preschool Program (CSPP) students for the second year. CSPP preschool summer programming is designed to respond to the needs of the District’s youngest learners and their working families.
This year, we are offering summer programming in some of our elementary schools. The summer program in Los Angeles Unified will prioritize social emotional learning, early literacy concepts, and kindergarten readiness skills to promote a continued trajectory towards long-term success in TK-12th.

LEARNING METHOD: In-person

SUMMER SCHOOL, TK - 8th Grade
The TK-8th School program will be offered in person and is designed to support core instruction, as well as provide targeted academic intervention in a small group setting.

SUMMER TERM 9th - 12th Grade
High school students currently enrolled in Los Angeles Unified can take advantage of the Summer Term program. This program offers credit recovery courses and opportunities to accelerate progress toward high school graduation and preparation for post-secondary education. The program is structured with two periods of in-person classes taught by Los Angeles Unified secondary teachers and two periods of fully virtual asynchronous courses.

- Period 1 8:30 AM – 11:15 AM
- Nutrition 11:15 AM – 11:45 AM
- Period 2 11:45 AM – 2:30 PM
- Period 3 & 4 asynchronous (Edgenuity curriculum)

EXTENDED SCHOOL YEAR (ESY) PK-12th Grade
Students with disabilities eligible for ESY may participate in summer school to continue progress and meet their unique education goals. Our ESY program will operate from June 27 - July 22, 2022. Click here for additional information regarding ESY.

INTERNATIONAL NEWCOMER
The International Newcomer Enrichment Summer Program is open to high school students in grades 8th-12th. Students who have recently enrolled in U.S. schools within the last 36 months and are non-U.S. born are eligible to participate in the program and receive up to ten elective credits.
Students will receive instructional materials to support language development and social emotional learning. In addition, teachers will provide English language development designed to provide learning opportunities that integrate listening, speaking, reading and writing.

MIGRANT EDUCATION
The Migrant Education Program (MEP) offers supplemental services to migratory children ages 3 to 21. Los Angeles Unified considers students “migrant students” if the parent, guardian or family member in the household is a migratory worker in the agricultural, dairy, lumber, packing, fishing or livestock industries, and has performed the work within the last 36 months, and traveling with that child.

BEYOND THE BELL SUMMER PROGRAMS TK – 6th
Beyond the Bell will provide summer programming at select elementary and middle school sites.

Current Los Angeles Unified School District students with a District ID number in grades TK – 6th.
Dates and Schedule
- June 14, 2022 – July 22, 2022
Note: All programs will be closed on June 20, 2022 and July 4, 2022 in observance of the national holidays.

HOW TO APPLY:
- In-Person Application
- Pick-up an application at your child’s school.
- Complete it and return it on the first day of summer program to the summer program staff.
- Online Application
- Click on the list of Available Programs.
- Find the school where you would like to enroll.
- Click on the agency provider to obtain the appropriate summer program application.
- Download, print and submit your application on the first day of summer program to the summer program staff. For LA’s BEST sites, the link will take you directly to an online application where it will be submitted directly to LA’s BEST.

SUMMER ENRICHMENT 2022
From learning how to bass, guitar or ukelele with Fender Play to 2D game design with Career Technical Education to Cartooning and Animation with Illumination, the creators of “Despicable Me” and “The Secret Life of Pets,” from learning first aid techniques in our Young Doctors Pre-Med Academy to learning new cultures through our World Language courses to being physically fit with a course in Wellness for Mind and Body, we’re certain your child will have an amazing summer of learning.

Summer learning is also a family affair! There are many fun, exciting, free, and low-cost destinations that families can enjoy. Each destination provides exposure and access to a unique learning experience beyond the classroom.
