PERTAINING TO PERIOD OF VALIDITY OF EXAMINATIONS FOR CERTIFICATION
Resources is pleased to announce that effective April 1, 2017, the Commission
on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) has approved amendments that will change the
period of validity for examinations used toward obtaining a credential or other
teaching or services authorization from the current 5 year validity period to
10 years. California Subject Examination for Teachers (CSET) and
California Teacher of English Learners (CTEL) examinations for certification
passed after April 1, 2007 will now fall under the ten-year window of validity.

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Teacher Requirements
Senate Bill 876 added additional requirements for TK teachers who began teaching students in this program after July I, 2015. Fee Increase! Commission on Teacher
Credentialing 2015-16 Budget
On June 24th, the Governor signed the 2015-16 Budget Act, which included
language increasing the Commission on Teacher Credentialing's application fee
from $70 to $100. This fee increase will become effective on July 1, 2015 and
applies to both new and renewed/reissued applications.
PER CTC -- January 2015 Statistic: Bilingual Teachers Prepared in California by Language:
In 2009-10 more than 1,200 teachers earned a bilingual authorization. In 2012-13, the number of bilingual authorized teachers certified dropped to less than 900, a decline of 35 percent between 2009-10 and 2012-13. Article Linked Here
CTC Credit Card Convenience Fee: Effective March 7th, 2014 at 8pm PST, the Commission has increased the credit card convenience fee
by $.50 from $2.00 per transaction to $2.50 per transaction. For more information, you can refer to the Fee Information Leaflet
