Deputy Chief JoAnna Fontenette is a 23-year veteran of the Los Angeles School Police Department and is the Commanding Officer for the Campus Services Bureau. She has held a variety of ranks over the course of her tenure, including Police Officer, Detective, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. Deputy Chief Fontenette holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Studies, as well as a teaching credential, from California State University, Long Beach. Additionally, she is a graduate of the LAPD Leadership Program, and has completed a variety of courses to include; Drug Recognition Expert course, Conflict Resolution, and Domestic Violence.
As Deputy Chief of the LASPD Campus Services Bureau, Deputy Chief Fontenette is responsible for all campus field operations with oversight of 6 geographical divisions, spanning 710 square miles covering 1100 schools.
Deputy Chief Fontenette has received the Meritorious Service Award for her duties and accomplishments in apprehending numerous sexual offenders, and has completed the Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) certification program.
