The Los Angeles Unified School District is in the process of developing a shared foundational understanding of the Common Core Standards. The division of History/Social Science is diligently working to support teachers in this transition. Please check back frequently for updated materials designed to support the implementation of Common Core.

Literacy Design Collaborative (LDC)
The LDC began as a group of literacy and curriculum experts working together to develop a strategy for addressing not only the literacy standards of the Common Core, but also to meet the demands for high performance in core content areas. The online platform for module development is free and open to anyone to use. There is also a library of teacher-designed, peer reviewed modules and skill-based tasks that teachers can use or modify as they wish, which address content from a variety of content areas (primarily ELA, history/social science, and science) at elementary, middle and high school. Instructional resources can be found at http://achieve.lausd.net/Page/9933
LDC recently received a federal i3 Grant to work with teachers in Los Angeles and New York over the next several years to build capacity in literacy instruction across the content areas. For more information on grant participation, please contact Jaimi Krielaart at email@example.com
