Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) Fiscal Services oversees the districtwide annual budgeting and allocation process of $1.5 Billion centrally. SELPA Fiscal Services also provides fiscal support to fiscally independent charter schools. The Unit manages and directs the preparation, development, resource allocation, and monitoring of the special education budget for District schools, external fiscally independent charter schools, and SELPA.
In addition, SELPA Fiscal Services provides financial transactional processing of payments to nonpublic school/agencies, inter-district permits, Educationally Related Intensive Counseling Services (ERICS) contracts, and reimbursements to attain operational improvements and efficiency. The unit also performs expenditure and preparation of special education mandated reports.
The mission of the Student Support Programs Fiscal Services is to provide fiscal support to ensure efficient use of available resources and providing special education services and in delivering quality health, mental health, and human services in an equitable manner accessible by all students.
